Nosin’ ‘Round Monson event set for June 1
MONSON — The town of Monson continues to get a remarkable facelift thanks to the Libra Foundation and the improvement efforts of local small business owners. This year the Monson Business Association will celebrate its second annual Nosin’ ‘Round Monson – a town-wide business open house from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 1.
Nosin’ ‘Round Monson was started in 2018 by this association as an event designed for folks to meet and connect with Monson business owners. According to Rebekah Anderson, owner of the Lakeshore House in Monson, “We had great success with this event last year, and we are looking forward to having great fun this year! The Monson Business Association also wanted to include residents who are not participating in Nosin’ ‘Round Monson, so it is encouraging town residents to have yard sales that day as well, which we hope will generate lots of gatherings all around town.”
Here’s how it will work: “Folks can start at any participating business that has a big red Nosin’ sign displayed,” Anderson said. “They will receive a beautiful booklet/map which will tell them which businesses are participating in Nosin’ ‘Round Monson! Just like last year, this will be an interactive experience and a great way for folks to connect with business owners in Monson. Visitors can just poke around and take their time. It will give them a more personal look about what we all do”.
Light refreshments will be available at most businesses, but remember to save room for the reception at Turning Page Farm!
At the end of your Nosin’ exploration, head over to Turning Page Farm on the North Guilford Road for a “Meet and Greet” promptly at 5:30 p.m. Upon arrival, participants can pick up raffle tickets for a chance to win some neat prizes from each participating Monson business. Business owners and participants alike can relax and chat about their experiences from the event. Don’t forget that you’ll also have an opportunity to meet Turning Page Farm’s Guernsey goats! The farm’s owners, Joy and Tim Bueschen, said, “We’re excited to host the Nosin’ reception in our beer garden; we’ll be pouring our Turning Page beer (brewed right here on the farm), and celebrating our beer garden’s opening for the season!”
Included in the participating Monson businesses are: Roberta Jarvis Art Gallery, with many of her wonderful paintings and studio on display; J. Wentworth Furniture, where you’ll find unique custom furniture and cabinetry; and Creations by Wendy, where you can watch Monson slate being made into personalized gifts, while taking a tour of Monson’s oldest operating slate product manufacturing facility. These are just a few of the many Monson businesses participating!
For a complete list of participating businesses, you can visit the Nosin’ ‘Round Monson Facebook page or pick up your booklet a few days early anywhere you see a big red Nosin’ ‘Round sign displayed. For more information email nosinroundmonson@gmail.com or call Turning Page Farm at (207) 876-6360.
