Track teams compete at UMaine

ORONO — Four of the region’s high school track teams took part in a May 17 Penobscot Valley Conference meet at the University of Maine.

The Greenville High School girls scored 53 points to place fourth among eight schools.

Sophomore Jessica Cobb won the 110 hurdles in a time of 20.45 seconds. She also came in second in the 300 hurdles at 57.17 seconds, and placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 65 feet, 8 inches.

Laker junior Bianca Breton had the day’s throw in the javelin at 80-04. Breton was also second in the discus at 74-10.

At a height of 4-04, junior Abby McDonough placed second in the high jump. Classmate Morgan Noyes finished fourth in the 200 at 30.20 seconds. The Greenville 4×400 relay came in fifth as McDonough, Breton, freshman Eva Patrick and Noyes combined for a time of 5:12.81.

Dexter Regional High School senior Danielle Cummings picked up all 32 of her team’s points as the Tigers were fifth in the standings.

Cummings won the 100 and 200 with respective times of 13.66 and 28.32 seconds. She was also third in the long jump at 15-03.50 and third in the javelin at 79-03.

Coming in sixth was Penquis Valley High School with a score of 28 points.

Senior Cymeria Robshaw won the triple jump with a leap of 36-03.75. She came in second in the long jump at 18-02.

Patriot senior Camryn had the fourth-best time in the 800 at 2:47.44 and she placed sixth in the 1,600 at 6:18.08. Classmate Faith Sickler added a fourth-place throw in the discus at 72-07 and she was sixth in the shot put at 22-04.

PCHS came in eighth with 14 points in Orono.

Freshman Kayden Gilbert’s throw of 24-00.50 was good for second place in the shot put. Sophomore Sarah Richards placed fourth in the shot at 23-01, and freshman Sadie Davis added a fifth-place performance in the javelin at 66-10.

In the boys’ meet, Dexter led the region by placing fifth among nine teams with a score of 27 points.

Michael and Miles Gadwah were third and fourth in the 110 hurdles with respective times of 21.69 and 22 seconds. Miles Gadwah came in fourth in the 300 hurdles at 57.61 seconds.

Dexter’s Chris Roderka came in fourth in the high jump at 4-10 and teammate Chris Boisvert was right behind in fifth place at 4-10 on jumps.

The Tiger 4×100 relay (Cameron Allen, Boisvert, Nathan Schobel and Dillon Allen) came in fifth at 52.01 seconds and Allen was also fifth in the long jump at 17-08. Issac Webber had a sixth-place throw in the javelin at 112-09.

Greenville came in sixth at 22 points.

Laker senior Ben Baldwin had the second-best times of the meet in both the 100 and 200, 12.09 and 24.15 seconds. Junior Jack Morehouse finished third in the javelin at 130-09.

A score of 15 points put Penquis in seventh place.

Freshman Caden Cyr came in third in the long jump at a distance of 17-10.75. Sophomore Will Waterhouse was fourth in both the 100 and 200 at 12.53 seconds and 25.48 seconds. Freshman Alvin Robshaw placed sixth in the long jump at 17-03.75.

PCHS freshman Matthew Burdin came in sixth in the long jump for the Pirate point as the team finished ninth. Burdin ran the sprint in 12.74 seconds.
