Foxcroft Academy Key Club gives back to the community

DOVER-FOXCROFT — In September the Foxcroft Academy Key Club decided to fund a well for clean drinking water through the Thirst Project. The goal was lofty, $12,000. In just six months the club was able to raise the necessary funds, and now for a second time in three years the Foxcroft Academy Key Club will have its name on a well in Africa.

In fact things went so well that through fundraising for the well and other projects, the Key Club finished with a surplus. Earlier this year, the club helped with the Penquis Valley Key Club, the Eliminate Project, Trick or Treat for UNICEF, iPads for Tanzania, the Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis Christmas Project, the Lewis family, the Marshall family, Camp Sunshine and Children’s Miracle Network. With that club members decided to give back to several local nonprofit agencies.

FA KEY CLUB SUPPORT — Last month the Foxcroft Academy Key Club presented donations and/or donations to a number of local nonprofit organizations. So far this school year, Key Club members have raised more than $19,500.

On April 26 there was a special assembly to honor the individuals and groups receiving checks and/or recognition from the Key Club. Included were the Center Theatre, the Dover-Foxcroft Area Food Cupboard, the Bickford family, the JD Foundation, Charleston Public Library, Nolan’s H.E.R.O. Foundation, Pine Tree Hospice, Partners for Peace, Piscataquis Regional YMCA, Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis Club Backpack Program, SeDoMoCha Builders Club and Foxcroft Academy.

With all of that, the Foxcroft Academy Key Club has helped raise over $19,500 this school year alone. The service projects don’t stop. If there is a need, the Key Club plans to be there.
