Ridge View students learn about ‘A Long Walk To Water’ through One School One Book project

DEXTER — An open house was held April 4 at the Ridge View Community School to celebrate the One School One Book project. Grades 5-8 all read “A Long Walk To Water” by Linda Sue Park, a true story about Salva Dut who was forced from South Sudan during the Sudanese War and his long journey that brought him to America as one of the “Lost Boys.”

As an adult Salva went back to his country and started building wells for the people there to help solve the water crisis that many people face. Students decorated the hallways with scenes from the book, studied water quality and even built a well.
