Rep. Higgins appointed to new Innovation, Development, Economic and Advancement Committee
The speaker of the Maine House of Representatives has appointed Rep. Norman Higgins, I-Dover-Foxcroft to the IDEA –- Innovation, Development, Economic and Advancement — Committee. The IDEA Committee was recently established to increase the focus on statewide economic initiatives, innovation, and workforce development.
“This provides an opportunity to have an impact on economic progress in Maine and Piscataquis County,” Higgins said. “Attracting a skilled workforce will require new ideas and training to expand our economy. Working with our local secondary schools, career and technical education programs, and business community, in partnership with our college system, is paramount to developing the workforce of tomorrow.”
Higgins has served two terms in the Legislature. He has been a member of the Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee and the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee. In 2016 he was awarded the Myrick Award by the Piscataquis County Economic Development Council for his work in economic development in Piscataquis County.
