Halloween BooNanza this weekend in Dover-Foxcroft
DOVER-FOXCROFT — A number of events are planned for the weekend and on Halloween as part of the annual Dover-Foxcroft Halloween BooNanza. A full schedule and more information is available at http://www.boonanza.info/.
Before the weekend Mayo Regional Hospital has a Patient Appreciation Day from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, and kids will be able to pick up trick or treat bags.
On Thursday, Oct. 25 Head to Tails Family Pet Store hosts a pumpkin pet design decorating contest from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. as entrants try to make their pumpkin look like a pet/animal. The event continues on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. when a winner will be crowned. For more information, call 564-7773 or see the business Facebook page.
On Friday, Oct. 26 from 4-9 p.m. the Thompson Free Library will be the site of Dr. Frankenstein’s Laboratory Escape Room. Please RSVP at 564-3350 or via the library Facebook page. The escape room will be in operation from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday.
The home and business decorating contest entries will be judged from 7-9 p.m., registration forms are available at the town office.
Friday night will be the Pumpkin Jam Battle of the Bands at 7 p.m. at the Center Theatre.
Foxcroft Academy JMG’s Haunted Pathway will be on the walking trail behind the school from 7:30-9:30 p.m., please park in the student lot and follow the signs.
On the evening of Oct. 26 the Bear’s Den hosts an adult Halloween party starting at 8 p.m. with live music from Fire & Ice and cash prizes for costume contest winners.
On Saturday, Oct. 27 the Mayo Regional Hospital and Piscataquis Regional YMCA Halloween 3K starts at 9 a.m. by the fire station on East Main Street, with registration beforehand. The race and walk is free for participants.
The Dover Cove Farmers’ Market will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the South Street cove location next to the Piscataquis Chamber of Commerce.
Dunkin Donuts hosts donut decorating and free hot cocoa for children from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Tractor Supply invites to the public to stop by at 10 a.m. to take part and view a pet costume contest. The categories include feathered friends, backyard friends, little friends, and furry friends.
Subway hosts a cookie decorating and coloring contest from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Dover True Value hosts “Who Done It?” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The children’s clue-themed interactive mystery game will have young detectives picking up game cards, collecting clues to solve the case, and then returning the cards for a prize.
At noon a children’s and pet costume parade starts at the courthouse parking lot and travels to the Center Theatre parking lot. Glow sticks from the Dover-Foxcroft Police Department will be handed out at the start of the procession, and treat bags from Zone Radio will be given at the end of the parade to all young participants dressed in their costumes.
Clementine decorating will be from 12:30-2 p.m. at Color of Life Yoga Studio, hosted by the Piscataquis Regional Food Center.
The Center Theatre screens John Carpenter’s “Halloween” at 2 p.m. and then at 2 and 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28.
From 6-9 p.m. on Saturday Ironworks Barbell Club hosts a haunted house, with proceeds benefiting the Dover-Foxcroft Shiretown Homecoming Committee.
The Center Theatre screens the thriller “The God Inside My Ear” at 7 p.m. — featuring Dover-Foxcroft native Lucas Boffin.
The Lincoln Street Haunt will be from 7-9 p.m. at 24 Lincoln Street.
Pat’s Pizza will feature live music by Troy Youngblood from 8-11 p.m. for a Halloween party.
The Bear’s Den hosts an adult Halloween party starting at 8 p.m. with live music from Live Wire and cash prizes for costume contest winners.
At 10 p.m. the Center Theatre screens “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”
On Halloween (Wednesday, Oct. 31) from 4-6 p.m. the Thompson Free Library hosts “Trick or Treat at the Library.” Children stopping by in costume will be given a free Halloween book will supplies last.
From 4-6:30 p.m. the Restoration Church hosts “Into the Fire” (a live interactive children’s story) at The Commons at Central Hall
The Lincoln Street Haunt will be from 7-9 p.m. at 24 Lincoln Street.
Trick or treaters can stop by Mayo Regional Hospital for a candy safety scan, and the hospital will be serving a healthy snack.
