Monson Museum to host Children’s Heritage Day

MONSON — Children’s Heritage Day will be held at the Monson Museum on Saturday, Aug. 18, from 9 to 11 a.m.

Activities are planned for the young and young at heart. Bring a lawn chair and listen to live Finnish music provided by Alexandra and Kermit Bennett. Dance lessons will be available.

Events for the children will include being a history detective in the museum, tasting Scandinavian foods such as bullas, Swedish almond cake, rice pudding, fruit soup, cookies and more. Participants may play Finnish and Swedish games, make a fairy house and a flower wreath for their hair.

Organizers will give out beginner genealogy books as long as the supply lasts. An attendant in the Research Room will be available to help find your Monson roots or tips on how to get started in genealogy.

The event will be held rain or shine and all are welcome to attend. For more information contact Estella Bennett at 876-3073 or Dawn MacPherson Allen at 997-3744.
