Ruth E. Bean Bell

Ruth E. Bean Bell, 94, passed away peacefully July 20, 2018 in Groton, CT. Born December 31, 1923 in Cambridge, MA, she was the daughter of Manley and Pearle (Drummond) Bean of Dover-Foxcroft, ME.
She graduated from Foxcroft Academy in 1942 and her fondest memories were working at the Pentagon during WWII. She retired from the Town of Manchester Board of Education in 1982. She was a lifelong member of the Rebekah Lodges of ME and CT, earning many degrees and official positions. Music was an important part of her life as she played piano for the Rebekahs and organ at Seymour Congregational Church.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents and husband, Harold Bell. Surviving are her children, Marjorie Frances Parker (William) of Indian Land, SC, Vivian Chesky and Bill Stafford of Manchester, CT and John Jenkins of Orlando, FL, grandchildren, Thomas Parkman of Concord, NC, Kyle Chesky of TX, and Melissa Twigg of CT and three great-grandchildren.
A special thank you is extended to the nurses, doctors and staff of Fairview for the care given to Ruth, her husband and parents during their stay at this exceptional facility over the past forty years. A memorial service and burial in Maine will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to: Fairview IOOF Home, Nursing Staff, 235 Lestertown Road, Groton, CT 06340. Arrangements are in the care of Byles-MacDougall Funeral Home, Groton, CT.
