Woodland edibles presentation July 14 at Abbott Memorial Library
DEXTER — Saturday morning July 14 from 10 to noon Dexter Dover Area Towns in Transition (DDATT) will host a free presentation on woodland edibles at the Abbott Memorial Library.
“Forest foods: what’s in the woods besides timber and firewood?”will feature Dave Fuller of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension as attendees explore sap, syrups, spruce gum, ramps and other edibles. The presentation will have a tasting of some of these products.
Fuller is an agriculture and non-timber forest products professional. He works with woodland owners to realize non-timber values while emphasizing sustainable harvests.
DDATT’s mission is to help move local communities into higher levels of self-control and independence, with reliable food production being a keystone. The more residents help each other know, the stronger the community will be.
