Central Maine Talent search crowns first winners
DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Center Theatre hosted the first preliminary event for the Central Maine Talent Search on June 2. By the end of the evening, the three-judge panel and the 120-person audience had chosen Aidan Manning and Parker Kelley as the winners of the event. Both will continue on to the grand finale Sept. 15 where they will be eligible to win $500 and other prizes.
Patrick Myers, executive director of the Center Theatre, said he was very happy with the event. “Since it was the first time we’ve ever done something like this, we weren’t sure what to expect,” he said. “We were thrilled by the great turnout and the enthusiasm the audience showed. Considering how good all the performers were, the audience vote really was the deciding factor in choosing the winner.”
Both winners performed impressive dance routines. Parker Kelley channeled Michael Jackson’s moves while dancing to “Beat It” and Aidan Manning did a hip hop dance routine to the song “Disclosure” by White Noise.
Myers said that the Theatre is still accepting registrations for the last two preliminary events. The next preliminary is July 7 and the last preliminary is Aug. 18. Interested performers can find a copy of the official rules at the Center Theatre or by visiting the Center Theatre website. Registration is open until July 20.
