PVC freshmen track championship results

BANGOR — Grade 9 students from the region were among those taking part in the 2018 Penobscot Valley Conference Frosh Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 29 at Cameron Stadium.

Sabrina Hamele of Foxcroft Academy was the meet runner-up in the 1,600 racewalk as she finished in a time of 11 minutes, 47.96 seconds. Teammate Kelli Black came in third at 11:58.02.

The Pony 4×100 relay team placed eighth in 1:10.19, as the squad was made up of Miriam Cameron, Black, Ava Rayfield and Rebecca Thomas. Cameron also came in 19th in the 100 at 15.07 seconds.

Sarah Richards of Piscataquis Community High School placed in the top 12 in the three throwing events. Richards finished 10th in both the shot put and discus with respective throws of 20 feet, 6.5 inches and 50-05, and she also was 12th in the javelin at 35-09.

In the boys’ freshmen meet, Izaak Krause of Foxcroft had the fourth-best time in the 200 at 26.46 seconds. He also came in sixth in the 100 at 12.54 seconds.

Logan Martin finished fifth in the 100 at 12.39 seconds, and he was 10th in the high jump at 4-06.

The Ponies’ Khrystofor Downing placed fifth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 20.43 seconds.

Trey Rogers of PCHS competed in the three throwing events. Rogers came in 17th in the discus at 63-03, 19th in the shot put at 21-09.75 and he was 22nd in the javelin at 53-09.
