Louise L. Dall,

Old Town – Louise L. Dall, 90, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. Brought into this world on July 1, 1927, in Township 32 “Myra, Maine”, Louise would become one of eight children born to John Robert and Gladys Rebecca (Nickerson) Ogden. As an infant and toddler, it was said by family that Louise was such a “wee” girl due to her tiny stature, leading to her nickname “WeeWee” and eventually Aunt “Wee Wee”, still used today by relatives and close friends. Louise often spoke of her early years growing up with her brothers and sisters in the pristine fields, forest, hills and valleys of Myra, and the natural beauty of her surroundings brought forth a lifelong interest, joy and love of the outdoors and all it contained. As the family grew larger, the decision was made to move to Old Town and to live in Stillwater where she and her siblings attended elementary school. Louise loved school and graduated from Old Town High School with the Class of 1946. After “catching the eye” of Earl Healy Dall, they married. The young couple built a home in Stillwater and became a family of four where she was the most nurturing, supportive, loving and ultimately courageous single parent two children could ever hope to have. Louise returned to work as a bank teller and remained there for many, many years . After retirement, she found herself with more time to pursue the passions of her life: gardening, enjoying family and cooking for large, often loud, family meals for holidays, celebrations and any other excuses to get together and share good times and food with family and friends. Her flower gardens were always beautiful and abundant, and her vegetable garden could always “be made larger”, producing food for family and good friends in the neighborhood. During the winter Louise could be found thumbing through seed catalogs and planning what to buy and plant in the spring. While in the summer, working in her garden and enjoying life around her filled many days. Louise was always ready to go camping with family anytime, but she especially loved her travel “Adventures” with Lawrence and her grandson, Randy, throughout Maine and beyond. Louise is survived by her daughter, Ann Dall of Guilford, her son Harold Dall and his wife Debbie of Old Town, nieces and nephews; Shirley Schmidt and family of ID, Charles Jenkins and wife Ida and their son Anthony and wife Julie and family of Old Town, Diana Cookson and family of Dixmont, David Cookson and family of Dixmont, Joy Schmidt and family of NC, Michael Weinstein and wife Penny and family of Holden, Steve Weinstein and wife Theresa of Old Town, Connie Ogden and daughters Cathy, Jeannette, Peggy and Donna and families of Old Town and the remaining families of Norman Ogden and Price Ogden. She is also survived by extended family members: Tami Ireland and husband Greg of Milford, their son Randy Ireland (“Nana’s” only grandson) of Auburn and his children Zack and Zoey Ireland (“Cuckoo’s” great grandchildren) of Old Town, Gary Thurston and wife Sharon of CT, David Shaw and John Westwood of CT, Duane Shaw and wife Mary and family of CT, and Lynn Bingham of NV; Francine Welch and family of Veazie, Tim Nylund and family of Bradford, Kevin Nylund and family of FL. Louise was predeceased by her husband Earl H. Dall in 1971, the second love of her life Lawrence Thurston in 1996 and his son Wesley Thurston, seven siblings: Price Ogden, Norman Ogden, Esther (Ogden) Weinstein, Mary (Ogden) Jenkins, Gilbert, William “Billy” Ogden, Ora “Tink” Ogden, Rita (Ogden) Cookson, nieces and nephews John Gilbert, Rebecca Ogden, Addie Lou (Ogden) Bergeron) Robbie Cookson, Kevin Cookson, and Norman Ogden, Jr. A graveside service was conducted at Riverside Cemetery, Bennoch Road, Orono, ME, Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at 11AM.
