Inaugural Northern Forest Canoe Trail female paddler to speak Feb. 28 in Greenville
GREENVILLE — The first female through-paddler of the 740-mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) will talk about her adventures in the Greenville Town Office Community Room (7 Minden Street) from 6–7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28.
Nicole Grohoski of Ellsworth will share a short, homegrown film about her 2006 trip as well as stories celebrating 11 years along the trail since that epic paddle.
Audience members will learn all about the NFCT, an amazing paddling resource, 347 miles of which cross some of the most spectacular waters of Maine. After the presentation, the audience will be invited to ask Grohoski questions about her experience.
The NFCT is the longest inland paddling trail in the nation and runs from Old Forge, N.Y. through Vermont, Québec, and New Hampshire to Fort Kent following ancient Native American travel routes. In 2014 the Northern Forest Canoe Trail was named “Editor’s Choice–Best Canoeing” by Yankee Magazine.
Coffee and light refreshments will be provided, so audience members are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early. This free event is open to the public and family friendly.
The talk is hosted by Moosehead Trails (MT), a group of volunteers working to improve people-powered trails in the greater Moosehead Lake region. For more information, follow Moosehead Trails on Facebook.
