Newell Austin Lyford

BANGOR – Newell Austin Lyford, 76, of Brownville, passed away on January 9, 2018, at Ross Manor in Bangor. His family was present as, after a long battle with C.O.P.D. and recovering from a post-surgery stroke, he was able to be at peace.

He was born on November 26, 1941, in Orneville, the son of Franklin M. Lyford Sr. and Ruth A. (Herbest) Lyford. He was predeceased by his father, and mother; his second wife, Linda (Harlow) Lyford; his sister, Elba Cottrell; his brothers Franklin Jr and Robert Sr.

A graduate of Milo High School, he served in the Air National Guard. He worked as a long time employee of Katahdin Lumber, Diamond Occidental, and finally retired from Moosehead Mfg in 2004. He served his community as a Legionnaire for Post #41, Milo and was quick to lend a hand to anyone who asked. He will be missed by many.
