Pony grapplers place fifth at Warrior Clash

NEWPORT — The Foxcroft Academy wrestling team continues on its grueling schedule. This time the wrestlers traveled to Newport on Jan. 6 to compete at the Warrior Clash at Nokomis High School.

“This tournament continues to grow and attract great competition,” Foxcroft head coach Luis Ayala said. “Our wrestlers continue to surpass my expectations.”

Ayala explained, “Our guys work hard at practice to improve on their technique and conditioning and it shows with the results.”

Foxcroft came in fifth, with many Class A programs also wrestling at the Warrior Clash. The Ponies’ R.J. Nelson and Elijah Ames both won individual titles, at 132 and 170 pounds respectively.

Brandon Weston, at 120 pounds, and 145-pound wrestler Jacob Diamond both finished in second place.

Placing fourth was Rico Ayala at 113 pounds and Grady Reardon at 126 pounds.
