David S. Ruksznis

David S. Ruksznis, a retired financial services executive and devoted family man, passed away November 12th after a brave battle with melanoma. The New Canaan, CT resident was 71.
David was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on October 6, 1946 to the late Stanley and Elizabeth Emerson Ruksznis. He spent his childhood in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, where he attended Foxcroft Academy and maintained an affiliation with the independent high school for five decades.
David graduated from Husson University in 1969 with a business degree and commenced his career with the GTE Corporation in Seneca Falls, New York that year. He held financial services positions with the company in New England and then moved to corporate headquarters in Stamford in 1993. He retired from GTE in 1998 as Director of Shareholder Operations and Securities Services.
At Foxcroft Academy, founded in 1823, he served as Treasurer of the Board and a long-time trustee until this year.
A talented raconteur, congenial host and accomplished cook, David enjoyed presiding over a festive table of family and friends well into the evening. He was also an avid golfer, duplicate bridge player and member of the Waccabuc Country Club.
David is survived by his wife of 27 years, Elizabeth Cahill Ruksznis, his daughters Isabel and Grace, brother Ron Ruksznis of Lewes, Delaware, two nieces and their children, and the many cousins he delighted in visiting regularly in central Maine.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 18th at noon at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan. Interment will be private.
