Piscataquis County Democrats hold fall fundraiser
SANGERVILLE — The East Sangerville Grange was overflowing with local citizens during the Piscataquis County Democrats’ fall dinner on Oct. 14 as well as Democratic candidates for the upcoming 2018 election.
Seven gubernatorial candidates addressed the capacity crowd including James Boyle, Adam Cote, Patrick Eisenhart, Janet Mills, Diane Russell, Betsy Sweet and Martin Vachon. These were followed by four candidates for the Second Congressional district: Jonathan Fulford, Craig Olson, Tim Rich and Lucas St. Clair. The audience also heard from Claire Cummings, a representative of Zak Ringelstein, candidate for the U.S. Senate, and a written statement was shared from Tyler Adkins, a candidate for the Maine House of Representatives.
The evening began with a social hour followed by a bountiful buffet of ham, baked beans, turkey, macaroni and cheese, salads, breads and rolls and a variety of homemade pies. The dinner was prepared by many volunteers from the county committee. Rusty Willette and Dr. Richard Evans, both of Dover-Foxcroft, acted as masters of ceremonies.
New Piscataquis Democrats T-shirts featuring artwork from Jerry Stelmok were unveiled and sold during the evening. The 50/50 drawing was won by Margarita Contreni of Greenville and immediately donated to benefit the work of the county committee.
Piscataquis County Democrats meet at 10 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month. The meetings rotate between Greenville, Dover-Foxcroft and Milo. The next meeting will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4 in Milo at the town hall on Pleasant Street. All are welcome.
