Vieira officially named president of Sebasticook Valley Health and C.A. Dean Memorial Hospital

GREENVILLE — M. Michelle Hood, FACHE, president and CEO of EMHS announced that Teresa “Terri” Vieira, MHA, FACHE, has been named president of Sebasticook Valley Health (SVH) and Charles A Dean Memorial Hospital. Vieira has led SVH since 2013 and has been acting president at C. A. Dean since 2017.

In making the announcement, Hood recognized Vieira’s passion for developing healthcare professionals, leaders, and systems to meet the challenges and opportunities of the future, as well as her strength as a strategic leader. “During the past year, Terri has exhibited exceptional success overseeing the strategic leadership needs of both SVH and Charles A Dean,” she said. “Her vast knowledge within healthcare as well as her ability to guide teams toward a common vision will serve both organizations well for years to come as we look toward ensuring those in our rural communities are provided with the right care, at the right time, and right place.”

The community leadership at both hospitals praised the decision. Linda Gilbert, chair of C.A. Dean’s board of directors, said board members fully support Vieira in this permanent role. She shares, “It has been a pleasure to work with Terri over the past several months. Her understanding and commitment to our rural communities is outstanding. The board is proud of the knowledge, experience, and passion that she brings to the table. She’s proven to be a wonderful leader and has been instrumental to the organization as healthcare continues to change.”

Vieira, who has served EMHS for more than 17 years, said she is excited for the opportunities that lay ahead for both hospitals, “Rural healthcare delivery is rapidly changing — for the better. I am fortunate to be working for a healthcare system that is passionate about ensuring access to critical healthcare services remain close to home for all Maine communities.”

Before coming to EMHS, Vieira has worked in several hospitals in New England, including Newton-Wellesley and Somerville hospitals in Massachusetts and Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. She has her Master of Health Administration and Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology from St. Joseph’s College in Standish. Vieira also serves as a board member for the Maine Hospital Association and received her Fellowship in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) in 2015.
