Partners for Peace offering domestic violence intervention training

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Partners for Peace, the domestic violence resource center formerly known as the Spruce Run-Womancare Alliance, will host a 40-hour training session in Dover-Foxcroft for anyone interested in volunteering with the organization. The training will begin in August and take place over six to seven weeks.

Partners for Peace provides support services to anyone affected by domestic abuse and violence in Penobscot and Piscataquis counties including a free and confidential 24-hour helpline.

“We rely on our dedicated volunteers to help with our helpline, support groups, children’s groups, committee work, court accompaniment, and everything in between,” said Casey Faulkingham, community response team leader for Partners for Peace.

Last year, a total of 149 volunteers donated 8,835 hours of their time to Partners for Peace. “Our community members and volunteers are some of our most important resources,” Faulkingham said. “We simply could not do this work without them.”
