New trooper will be on patrol in the region
VASSALBORO — Maine’s eight newest troopers received their badges on April 7 in ceremonies at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.
Being assigned to Troop E — Piscataquis and Penobscot counties — is Dylan Hall. He is a graduate of Bucksport High School, attended Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor and is a former employee of the Verso Paper Mill in Bucksport.
The new troopers completed 10 weeks of specialized State Police training, which is in addition to the 18 weeks of training required for all Maine police officers. State Police continue to have 19 trooper vacancies out of the 330- person compliment, even with eight other trooper recruits enrolled in the basic police school also taking place at the academy. The new troopers will now patrol with a veteran trooper before hitting the road on their own.
Administering the oath of office was the Chief of the State Police, Col. Robert Williams who told the new troopers, “You will have a huge impact on the communities you serve. People will call you because they expect you can solve all of their problems and sometimes your presence is all that is needed. Treat everyone with respect and dignity.”
