Joyce Elaine Richards

GUILFORD – Joyce Elaine Richards age 63 of Guilford lost her battle with COPD on March 29th at Mayo Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. Joyce was born August 13, 1953 to Ruth Church and Russell Parsons. She is survived by her loving husband, Jeffrey Richards of Guilford. Daughter Trudy and her husband Jim Iams of Wilton. Granddaughter Sonja and her husband Justin Norwood of Gardiner and their daughter Elizabeth. Grandson James Iams of Barnesville, Ohio. Grandson Jonathan Iams and his girlfriend Adriana Miniutti of Farmington. Joyce is also survived by her sister Patsy and her husband Michael Magee of Corinna. A brother Danny and his wife Vicki Parsons of Boca Raton Florida, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her family she leaves behind kind caring in-laws. Mother-in- law Rochelle Brown. Sister-in-law Teresa and her husband Tim Hughes. Brother-in-law Gregory and his wife Sally Richards. Sister-in-law Heidi and her husband Tim Packard. Sister-in-law Terrie-Ann Stupakewicz. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Gary, brother Eugene and sister Sharon. There will be no funeral at her request. When asked of her grandchildren what they would remember most about their grandmother it was her love and generosity that they would reme-mber. As her final generous act, in lieu of flowers she requested that donations of money or volunteer time be given to the Unitarian Universalist Church Food Pantry in Sangerville Maine. The family would like to extend thanks to the staff of Guilford Medical Associates and the staff of Mayo Regional Hospital for her care during her illness, as well with special thanks to the Emergency Room nurses and physicians for your kindness and compassion in her final hours. The family would also like to recognize Pastor Ray for his dedication, compassion and ability to comfort families in difficult times.
