Maine McDonald’s Senior All-Star selections
BANGOR — The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches recently announced that four players from the region have been chosen for the 2017 Maine McDonald’s Senior All-Star Games on Saturday, March 11 at Newman Gymnasium on the campus of Husson University.
The Girls C/D North team includes Dexter Regional High School’s Megan Peach and Abby Webber and Jordan Durant of Penquis Valley High School. The trio and their teammates will play a team of the top seniors from Class C/D South schools at 2:30 p.m. on March 11.
Brayden Miller of Dexter was chosen for the Boys C/D North Team. The squad will be coached by Penquis Valley head coach Jason Mills, along with James Getchell of Machias Memorial High School, and the boys C/D game will tip off at 1 p.m.
The day will begin with a free throw competition at 8:30 a.m. and East region champion Piscataquis Community High School junior Bryce Gilbert will be one of four boys putting their foul shooting skills to the test to see who is the state’s best.
The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches also announced its All-State Academic Team. William Strauch of Dexter was one of 10 boys from across Maine to receive this honor.
