Snow Roller Day on Saturday |
MONSON — The Monson Recreation Department will be organizing a number of activities for the annual Snow Roller Day on Saturday, Feb. 18.
A “Big-N-Hearty breakfast is served at the Monson Community Church from 7 to 9 a.m., and an event stamp contest will be from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. — pick up and return forms at the gym. The post office will have sheets for a coloring contest available from 7-11 a.m.
The Monson Historical Society has a snow roller exhibit during its 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. hours and hot cocoa will be served. The warm and tasty beverage will also be ready at the community center throughout the day.
Behind the community center, “Pastor Dave” hosts downhill sled races, snowshoe races, snowshoe jump rope and a ski toss from 10-11:30 a.m. Prizes and ribbons will be awarded.
From 11 a.m.-1 p.m. the Maine Warden Service has its “Wall of Shame” on display in the gym parking lot, and also from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. the chili cook-off takes place at the community center.
The community center will be the site of a cribbage tournament from noon to 2 p.m. with prizes awarded to the top three finishers.
A movie for seniors is set for 4 p.m. at the community center. A 6 p.m. bonfire by the Lakeshore House closes the day, with music from 6-9 p.m.
