Soil conservationist joins NRCS team
DOVER-FOXCROFT — The USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) welcomes Jaime Sandoval Jr. to its field office. Sandoval, an experienced soil conservationist, will assist District Conservationist Leslie Nelson in carrying out Farm Bill programs such as the Environmental Incentives Program (EQIP) for farmers and woodlot owners in Piscataquis County.
“We are happy to welcome Jaime to the USDA-NRCS field office,” Nelson said. “His knowledge and past experience will only enhance program delivery and customer service in Piscataquis County, and I look forward to a strong team approach as we move forward with conservation planning.”
Sandoval graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor of science focusing on wildlife management and agronomy. During and after college he worked for Iowa USDA-NRCS, focusing on corn-soybean and pasture management along with habitat development for wildlife species primarily ring-necked pheasant and bobwhite quail. He took a leap of faith and joined NRCS-Maine last year, and has been working as a soil conservationist in Penobscot County.
Outside of work his spare time is devoted to his 6-year-old son, 4-year-old daughter and 21-month-old son who love to read, rough-house and explore the outdoors.
Sandoval looks forward to working with Piscataquis County producers, and he can be reached at the USDA Service Center at 42 Engdahl Drive or at 564-2321 ext. 3.
