Schoodic derby to benefit House in the Woods

MILO — The Milo Fire Department, host of the 55th annual Schoodic Lake Ice Fishing Derby scheduled for Feb. 18-19 on several area bodies of water in and around Milo and Brownville, has chosen House in the Woods Military & Family Retreat to receive donations from the 2017 event ticket sale proceeds.
A dollar from each derby ticket sold will be given to House in the Woods. The contribution is in addition to the over $5,000 raised during the Schoodic Lake Ice Fishing Derby for the benefit of local charities, organizations and events.
Located in Lee, House in the Woods is under the care of Paul and Dee House. Their mission is to “create therapeutic, recreational and educational programs for the armed forces and family members.
The Schoodic Lake Ice Fishing Derby depends on sponsorships from community businesses who benefit from and give back to the area. Derby officials know Paul and Dee House and their crew fit this spirit many times over and with an even wider horizon.
Tickets for the 2017 derby will be available later in the month. There are over 20 merchants selling tickets as are members of the Milo Fire Department. For more information go to the Milo Fire Department’s Facebook page or www.townofmilo.org or www.trcmaine.org. For more on House in the Woods, go to www.houseinthewoods.org.
