James Bonney died unexpectedly on July 31, 2016, in Houlton. He was born in Houlton’s Aroostook Hospital on June 27, 1963, the son of Erwin and Marie Bonney of Orient.
Born with spina bifida, Jim was wheelchair-bound his entire life. Nonetheless, he graduated from Hodgdon High School in 1981, and lived independently in Auburn, where he was employed at Pathways of Maine. In his later years, he was a resident of Madigan Estates in Houlton.
Jim is survived by his six siblings and their spouses, Forrest and Pamela Bonney of New Sharon, Bonita and Spencer Stevenson of St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada, Preston and Florence Bonney of Orient, Aleta and Barry Bennett of Jacksonville, Florida, Perry and Somaly Bonney of Deer Park, Texas, and Sean and Teresa Bonney of Westbrook; and several nephews and nieces.
Jim will be interred with his parents and paternal grandparents at Grace Lawn Park in Auburn. There will be no formal funeral service, but family members will gather at the family home in Orient to remember Jim the week of August 14, and would welcome visits from friends to remember him at that time.
