Revolutionary idea to help non-profits

To the Editor:

One of the problems with food cupboards, soup kitchens, etc. is that they’re always short of money and relying on volunteer labor which can become a burden on a few dedicated workers.

Our daughter Dana Frasz, a 2001 Foxcroft Academy graduate, aims to change that.  She has devised a “kitchen” concept which will reduce food waste and feed the hungry while at the same time creating jobs by making saleable products!  She is currently engaged in a “crowd funding” campaign on the Internet to raise the necessary money to launch the kitchen.  The fund-raising effort ends on November 16.  So far, people have contributed about $24,000 toward the $30,000 goal.

If this project is successful, which it is likely to be, Dana can then promote it around the country as a model for other charities to become self-sustaining.

If you would like to help launch the Alameda Kitchen, you can see how it will work and contribute at www.foodshift.net.  Thank you.
