Civil War vets to be lauded

   DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Sarah Elizabeth Palmer Tent #23, Daughters of Union Veterans and Daniel Chaplin Camp #3, Sons of Union Veterans, invite the public to attend a joint memorial service on Sunday, May 17 at 3 p.m. 

   The service will begin at the Dover Cemetery graveside of Sarah Elizabeth Palmer, a Dover-Foxcroft native who cared for the wounded during the Civil War. 
   The groups will then honor Civil War veteran James Manter of Dover-Foxcroft, the last surviving Civil War veteran in Piscataquis County. Manter is buried at the Gray Cemetery.
