Brownville police seeking information on campaign sign thefts
BROWNVILLE — Police are looking for information about the removal on Oct. 15 of several political campaign signs taken from the side of the road.
Police Chief Nicholas Clukey received a complaint about the missing signs from town office staff, who reported they saw the occupants of a silver Honda Ridgeline pickup remove a sign for Piscataquis County sheriff candidate Dennis Dyer located nearby on the Main Road.
Another Dyer campaign sign was reported missing near the Maine Forest Service station on Davis Street, the department said in a news release.
Brownville police said removal of political signs by unauthorized persons is a civil offense under Maine law. Anyone with information about the removal of political signs for any candidate or referendum question in Brownville is asked to call the Brownville Police Department at 965-2561.
