    With students about to head back to school, drivers are reminded that they all are required by law to stop for school buses when the vehicle’s red lights are flashing. Passing a stopped school bus with red lights flashing is illegal, even in parking lots and on school grounds, with students getting off and on and often crossing the road. The fine for a school bus drive-by is $311 and may include the loss of license for a specified amount of time.

    Rowell’s Garage, which buses students in RSU 68 and Foxcroft Academy, Transportation Director Jenny Chase said several drive-bys took place last year. She said the worst route for drive-bys is on West Main Street in Dover-Foxcroft, given the amount of traffic at the end of the school day at 3 p.m.
