July 18 open house to honor retiring librarian
MONSON — For over 50 years the Monson Free Public Library has been managed by Van Wentworth. Wentworth has done this all as a volunteer and she is now retiring.
Wentworth started her volunteering when the Monson Academy was still operating and students would come to the library for their school projects. When Monson Academy closed she continued to provide assistance to the Monson Elementary School library and read to the younger children every week. Wentworth has become a familiar face to anyone who visits the library and will be missed by all.
In celebration of her volunteerism and retirement the Monson Library will conduct an open house on Friday, July 18 from 4-6 p.m. The public is invited to come and help us honor Wentworth’s 50 years of service.
