Local businesses coming together to help get kids off drugs

Patient Appreciation Days March 12 in Brewer, March 13 in Dover-Foxcroft and Dexter

DOVER-FOXCROFT — In September 2009, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration reported that 16,000 adolescents (12 to 17 years of age) in the state of Maine had used an illicit drug in the past month.
Of that 16,000 adolescents 13,000 had used marijuana and 6,000 had used some other type of illicit drug.

Rampant drug use is a growing concern not only in our community and state but also on a national level.
Results Physical Therapy and Wellness Center is teaming up with 37 other local businesses to help get kids off drugs at their annual Patient Appreciation Day on March 12 from noon to 6 p.m. in Brewer, March 13 from 9 a.m. to noon at our Dover-Foxcroft clinic and on March 13 from 1-4 p.m. at their Dexter clinic.
“Drug abuse is a major concern in our community,” said Carol Lane, owner of Results Physical Therapy and Wellness Center. “Almost all of us know of someone who has died because of drug abuse. I’m so pleased with how our neighboring businesses have pitched in to make a difference by educating kids on the effects of drugs, so they can decide for themselves to not take them,”
With the help of generous local businesses they are helping to fight this epidemic by including a silent auction at our Patient Appreciation Day.
All the proceeds from the silent auction will be donated to Foundation for a Drug-Free World, a public nonprofit organization that strives to empower and educate people of all ages with  accurate, factual information about drugs to help them choose and live a drug free life.
“Here at Results Physical Therapy we feel it’s important to not only thank our patients but to ensure that they are doing well by providing them with free consultations to review their home exercises and answer their questions,” Lane said. “We also strive to make a difference in the community by participating in events that support various organizations.”
