Former Penquis Valley High School basketball star Isaiah Bess, who transferred to Hampden Academy for his senior season where he helped the Broncos win the Class A East championship, is one of three finalists for the 2014 Maine Mr. Basketball Award.
Bess, Hampden teammate Zachary Gilpin and Dustin Cole of Bonny Eagle in Standish are the three finalists for the honor, which will be presented March 7 at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor during the Maine McDonald’s high school senior all-star awards banquet. Mr. Basketball recognizes players’ performances on the court as well as contributions to team and basketball in Maine.
