Alfond Foundation grant will help provide for JMG at Dexter Regional High School

WATERVILLE — The Harold Alfond Foundation has awarded Jobs for Maine’s Graduates (JMG) a $600,000 challenge grant allowing the statewide nonprofit to expand its programs to serve more youth.

JMG is a private nonprofit organization that partners with public schools to prepare students for continued education and careers. Through this challenge grant the foundation will match, dollar-for-dollar, new contributions made to JMG up to $600,000.
“We could not be more thrilled to be partnering with JMG, an organization whose mission and programs are in such great need statewide, with such a strong track record of success,” says Greg Powell, the foundation’s chairman. “This grant allows us to support the organization as well as the communities of Dexter and Fairfield — and to build on the successes achieved in Waterville, Oakland and many other communities statewide.”
Half of the Foundation’s grant will directly support JMG’s general operations. The remaining $300,000 will support the costs of opening two new programs: one at Dexter Regional High School and the other at Lawrence High School in Fairfield.
Craig Larrabee, President and CEO of JMG, says, “To receive this kind of investment from one of the largest and most well-respected foundations in New England is an incredible honor. We are excited to be able to bring our program to the young people of Fairfield and Dexter, and immensely grateful for the opportunity this challenge grant provides.”
