Dexter cheering finishes eighth at state championship

    AUGUSTA — The Dexter Regional High School cheering team joined 11 other squads from around Maine to take part in the Class C state championship on Feb. 8 at the Augusta Civic Center.

    UP, UP AND AWAY — The Dexter cheerleaders showed their talent during halftime at the Tiger’s home victory against Bangor Christian.

    The Tigers finished the competition with a score of 104.3 points to place eighth out a field of 12 — the top six from both the state’s eastern and western regions. Members of the Dexter squad include Ciera Handy, Airell Knowlton, Shawna Moulton, Madison Provost, Sarah Ann Vigue, Shayna Fogg, Cayla Wyman, Jasmine Woodard, Katelyn Morgan, Stacey Allen, Olivia Day, Emmitt Ross, Jessica Chabot, MacKenzie Peatfield, Danielle Whitten, Martin Ward, Kristen Swimm and Grace Belanger.
    Central High School of Corinth won the 2014 Class C title with 117.3 points.
