Tigers finish fifth

    NEWPORT — The Dexter Regional High School wrestling team placed fifth out of 18 teams, with a score of 74 points, from across Maine at the Nokomis Warrior Clash on Jan. 4.

    A pair of Tigers reached the finals in their respective weight classes. At 132 pounds Zach Caron placed second — falling by major decision 8-0 to Julian Sirois of Skowhegan — as did Seth Blais at 152 pounds. Blais lost 4-0 to Skowhegan’s Kaleb Brown.
    Matt Mower finished third in the 170-pound division. In the consolation finals he defeated Gorham’s Abe Eaton 5-4.
    Coming in fourth were Bryce Sweet and Bryce Salsbury. In the 120-pound consolation finals Sweet was edged by Isaac Desrochers of Wells 4-2, and Nick Hickey of Mt. Blue of Farmington pinned Salsbury at the 2:04 mark of their 160-pound consolation finals match.
