Half dozen from the area play football at Husson
BANGOR — Six players, who are graduates of either Foxcroft Academy or Dexter Regional High School, were members of the 2013 Husson University football team.
Stroud
Junior Ryan Stroud, a resident of Dover-Foxcroft who began his collegiate career at the University of Maine, appeared in all 10 games for the Eagles. As a quarterback Stroud completed 19 of 64 passes for 167 yards — including a team-high 39-yard completion — with a touchdown and seven interceptions.
Stroud also rushed 57 times for 57 yards, with a 20-yard gain the longest of his carries, with a touchdown. He finished third on the team with nine receptions, for 117 yards (with a long of 28 yards) with three touchdowns.
McLaughlin
Sophomore wide receiver Rob Labelle, of Dover-Foxcroft, appeared in three games for Husson. Fellow Foxcroft graduates Louis LaFache, a first-year center from Corinna, and Ryan Rebar, a first-year wide receiver from Harmony, both played in two games.
Also on the Husson roster were first-year players Anthony McLaughlin and Malcolm Mitchell, both are Dexter Regional High School graduates. McLaughlin is a tight end from Dexter and Mitchell a fullback from Garland.
Husson finished the year with a record of 5-5, going 4-3 in Eastern Collegiate Football Conference play.
