LEADERSHIP SEMINAR-BOUND — Foxcroft Academy sophomore Madison Fadley, pictured being interviewed after scoring the winning goal in the Class C East field hockey championship, has been selected as her school’s nominee for the 2014 Maine Youth Leadership Seminar. The seminar will be held in the spring at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham.

Fadley’s academic interests include graphic design, creative design, photography, mathematical drawing and foreign languages. She was the chief graphic designer for this fall’s Foxcroft Academy alumni publication and is an active member in Key Club, Student Council and Cooking Club. A standout athlete, Fadley scored the game-winning goals in both the Eastern Maine and state field hockey championship games this fall and she was also a key contributor for the swimming and tennis teams as a freshman.
Gabriela Johnson was chosen as this year’s alternate. MYL representatives from Foxcroft Academy in recent years include Clay Carroll (2013), Sam Keane (2012), Atticus Dennis (2011), Josh Bombero (also in 2011) and Jeremiah Henderson (2010).
Since 1980, MYL has worked with Maine youth to seek out, recognize, and develop their leadership skills. The organization’s goal is to motivate Maine’s future leaders and create a network of civic-minded students who will better their communities through volunteering. MYL provides programs that encourage and assist students at critical times in their quest for self-identification and development, while also setting up give-and-take discussions with thought leaders and role models from across Maine society.
