Hometown Holidays on Saturday

    The holiday season will be in full swing across the region on Saturday, Dec. 7 with the Piscataquis Chamber of Commerce’s annual Hometown Holidays. There will be no place like home with activities scheduled in five different communities on Dec. 7.

    In Brownville the Christmas with Claus celebration will be at 10 a.m. at American Legion Post 92.
    Hometown Holidays events in Dover-Foxcroft include the Kris Kringle Koffee from 9-11 a.m. at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church; a Christmas open house at Bob’s Sugarhouse from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; book signing at Will’s Shop ‘n Save from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; reindeer craft and gift for Santa at Foxcroft Agway from noon to 1 p.m.; the Imagine Tour at the Union Square Mall from noon to 6 p.m.; letters with Mrs. Claus at the Center Theatre from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by “The Polar Express” from 3 to 4:30 p.m.;
    A holiday exploration with the Dover-Foxcroft Historical Society from 3 to 4:30 p.m.; horse-drawn carriage rides along Lincoln Street from 4 to 6 p.m.; visit with the Polar Express at Central Maine Railroad from 4:30 to 5 p.m.; Main Street caroling from 4:30 to 6 p.m.;
    The Festival of Lights Parade from Foxcroft Academy to the fire station at 5 p.m.; and the arrival of Santa Claus for the tree lighting at 5:15 p.m. with craft time and treats inside the fire station.
    In Guilford hot cocoa and treats will be served at the Guilford Historical Society at 5:30 p.m. Santa Claus arrives at 6 p.m. for a tree lighting at the Braeburn Lot at 6 p.m., followed by caroling by the bonfire.
    In Milo the fun starts early with breakfast with Santa at the town hall from 8 to 10 a.m. Next door at the Park Street United Methodist Church will be a Christmas Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
    From 4 to 6 p.m.. there will be more fun in the town hall dining room for children who will be making a Christmas decoration and having a snack.
    Santa comes to Milo with a parade starting at 5 p.m. at the American Legion. After the parade a lucky child will be chosen to light the Milo Fire Department’s Community Christmas tree.
    There will be caroling after the lighting. By 5:30 pm. Santa should be settled in his chair in the town hall lobby to begin greeting children and hearing their Christmas wishes. Meanwhile others can enjoy the hayride which arrives and departs from the town hall, continue with a craft activity or have a snack. The winners of the home lighting contest and cookie decorating contest will be announced and prizes awarded before Santa leaves.
    Weather permitting at 7 p.m. there will be a bonfire and skating at the rink at Harris Field on Elm Street.
    In Monson Hometown Holidays events include the Kris Kringle craft fair at the Monson Gym from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a gingerbread house contest. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the Monson Jammers take to the stage at noon. Santa Claus arrives at 1 p.m.
