Dexter Community Band announces its summer concert schedule

DEXTER — The Dexter Community Band will be performing at several venues this summer. Many of the concerts are outdoors. Audience members should bring a chair for concerts in the park. The band does not charge admission for concerts, but donations are accepted.

The Dexter Community Band is a wind, brass, and percussion ensemble with a repertoire that ranges from traditional regimental and military to contemporary Broadway, TV and popular music of several eras. Members of varying ages and musical abilities come from throughout the greater Dexter area. Visiting summer musicians are encouraged to sit with the group.
Sponsored by the Carl R. Cuthbert Community Band Foundation, the group welcomes all and offers free music, instrumental loan and instruction. Weekly rehearsals on non-concert days are Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at Wayside Theatre /Grange Hall at 851 North Dexter Road.
The band, in its third year, is a 501c(3) non-profit organization and a member of the New Horizons International Music Association. The band promotes the music of Dexter-born composer Harold Josiah Crosby (1886-1920). His music is in the process of being re-engraved for restoration, preservation, and distribution. For more information, call 924-6235 or visit www.cuthbert-foundation.org.
