Brownville

Grant will support outdoor classroom

BROWNVILLE — The Brownville Elementary School recently received a grant for nearly $5,000 from the Maine Community Foundation to support the school’s outdoor classroom project. Construction will take place over the summer with a ribbon cutting planned for the fall.

This grant will allow teachers to supplement the lessons of the Brownville Elementary Nature Trail, along with other curriculum possibilities. It will not only serve the students at Brownville Elementary, but hopefully become a field trip destination for other schools in the SAD 41 district.
The classroom and path also will be available to the larger community when families are walking the nature trail or using the Brownville Elementary  playground.
The staff at the Brownville Elementary School feels the grant from the Maine Community Foundation will help make the outdoor classroom and nature trail be a wonderful addition to their school campus.
