Upcoming area Grange events for the month of May

    On Thursday, May 2, Piscataquis Pomona Grange meets at Garland Grange on the Oliver Hill Road in Garland. Garland will be hosting a paid ham supper for participants starting at 6 p.m. Pomona meeting and conferring of the Fifth Degree begins at 7 p.m. For more information contact Bill Bemis at 924-3537.

    Friday, May 3 the Valley Grange hosts a Painting, Pruning, Primping and Pizza Party. Members and friends are invited to join the fun that will include some pruning and primping of the yard starting around 4 p.m. Pizza will be served at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a painting the stage area. Pizza and paint will be provided— helpers please bring any tools and supplies you can.

    Saturday, May 4,  don’t miss “Homemade Jam” at the East Sangerville Grange Coffee House featuring a number of local musicians in various combinations. Sid Stutzman and his band hold the whole thing together with help from J.T. Curran, Toby Hall, Alexandra and Kermit Bennett, Mike Kagan, Dyan McCarthy Clark, and others. All proceeds will be donated to the Aliza Stutzman Fund which is being set up to aid local families whose children are fighting brain cancer. The Stutzman family have been an integral part of “Homemade Jam” since its inception. We hope you’ll join us for this great annual event.

    Saturday, May 4, the Parkman Grange is partnering with the JD Foundation to conduct a spaghetti dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. with entertainment by Blaine and Doug following. Admission is by donation with all proceeds go to suicide prevention. There will be raffles and 50/50. Menu includes spaghetti and meatballs, chop suey, rolls, breads, salads, desserts, coffee tea, water, and punch. The Parkman Grange is located at four corners.     Saturday, May 11, the Wayside Grange in Dexter hosts a sausage and beef lasagna public supper with garlic bread, tossed salad and strawberry rhubarb, banana split and peanut butter pies at the Wayside Grange/Theatre on Route 23 (851 North Dexter Road) from 5 to 7 p.m.  Live dinner music will be included.  Contact Barb Bekier at 924-5711 or WaysideGrange@yahoo.com.
    Friday, May 17, Valley Grange celebrates Guilford Community Night. The public is  invited to attend this gala celebration that begins with a community potluck supper at 6 p.m. The 7 p.m. program includes recognition of several long time Valley Grange members and a special tribute to The Piscataquis Observer and WABI-TV 5 for their community support.
