Piscataquis Radar Runs results
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Racers braced frigid temperatures to see who has the fastest snowmobile during the second revived edition of the Piscataquis Radar Runs on Saturday at the Charles A. Chase Jr. Memorial Field off Pine Street. A second event is being planned for Saturday, March 18.
On the event Facebook page Lindsay Sands, who co-owns 207 Powersports with her husband Garrett Sands and is one of several organizers, said more than 30 sleds took part. Darren Colbry had the day’s top time at 131 mph and the top speed in the mini mods was 25 mph.
“We were able to raise over $3,000 just from yesterday alone,” Sands wrote. “I cannot wait to see how we do at March’s event! For anyone who is curious what we do with all the funds raised at our event, we donate funds to organizations in our community who are in need. We have yet to decide where we want our funds to go this year, but we are open to suggestions!”
Last year, organizers gave funds collected through registration fees to the Dover-Foxcroft Fire Department, Piscataquis Valley Snowmobile Club, and Penquis Youth Hockey Association.
Cash prizes of $250, $150, and $100 were awarded to the top-class finishers.
