Extension on the Road will come to county communities

UMaine Cooperative Extension provides free research-based information to farmers and gardeners through our Piscataquis County Office in Dover-Foxcroft and this year staff will be traveling to Greenville, Milo and Guilford to help answer questions on 4-H Youth programing, gardening, farming, value-added products, etc.

Extension on the Road is a great opportunity for you to bring a diseased plant or tree branch for diagnosis … or a bug for identification … soil test to transport to lab …  etc. … and determine options available. We’ll do our best to answer your question immediately. However, sometimes we need to take more time to research your issue or to consult with UMaine Extension Insect and Disease Diagnosticians, or other UMaine Extension experts. We may also recommend another agency or organization for you to contact. Our goal is for you to have the best answer possible.

Are you thinking about farming or are looking for information to help with your crop, livestock, or value-added product, plan to stop in and pick up some fact sheets, and information on farming and marketing farm products?

Thinking about getting your kids into a 4-H project or maybe you are thinking about joining 4-H as a volunteer, we will have information to help let you know about all the opportunities that are available for youth and adults in the 4-H program.

Stop by and say hello! Share your gardening questions and successes, pick up some factsheets on raising livestock, pick up 4-H Youth program information, and let us know how we can help.

Piscataquis County horticulture, farm and 4-H Youth staff are going to Milo, Guilford and Greenville throughout the summer for the Extension on the Road. Check to see when we will be coming to your community with the Extension on the Road from 10 a.m. to 2 pm on the first Friday of every month on our website https://extension.umaine.edu/piscataquis/extension-on-the-road/ or follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/umaineextpsq/

The initial “Extension on the Road” will be held at the Greenville Town Office on Friday, April 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 pm.. We will have soil testing kits, gardening fact sheets, starting a farm and 4-H Youth information available. 4-H Youth staff will be attending.
