The Maine Warden Service is seeking interest from the public to create a volunteer search and rescue team in Piscataquis County. There will be an informational meeting held at the Greenville Fire Department, 10 Minden Street, at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

The following cases were heard under the Piscataquis Criminal Docket at the Dover-Foxcroft Courthouse during the month of August.

The Maine Warden Service is seeking volunteer searchers. Maine game wardens are planning a search for missing person Diana Esteys in Medford on Sunday, Sept. 17.

BAXTER STATE PARK -- Baxter State Park Rangers were assisted by the Maine Forest Service in the evacuation of a hiker from Mount Katahdin on the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 9.

Shortly before 2 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19 the Dover-Foxcroft Police Department along with the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene of a rollover crash that occurred on the Bangor Road just north of the South Dover Cemetery. Officers arrived and found there was a crash that had struck a parked vehicle which careened into the front porch of a home at 1282 Bangor Road in Dover-Foxcroft.

Rescuers helped an injured hiker to safety in Piscataquis County for the second time in as many days on Thursday, July 6.

A teenager who suffered a broken leg on the Appalachian Trail was airlifted off a mountain east of Greenville on Wednesday, July 5.

A decision on the 2017 tax commitment was not finalized during a June 27 selectmen’s meeting, as instead the mill rate could be set during a potential meeting on Tuesday, July 18.
