MILO — Those who served throughout the nation’s history, in times of war and times of peace alike, are recognized at the Veterans Memorial at Evergreen Cemetery in Milo which includes monuments to past wars, the branches of the military, and stones engraved with names of local veterans.

BROWNVILLE — The Brownville-Brownville Junction Historical Society held its 2023 annual meeting on May 16 at the Parish House Museum.

MILO — This academic year nearly 50 Milo Elementary and Brownville Elementary students have gotten together after school for the BearCats program, an amalgamation of the school’s Bears and Bobcats mascots.

AUGUSTA — Sixteen Maine teachers were announced as 2023 County Teachers of the Year at a ceremony in the Hall of Flags at the Maine State Capitol during Teacher Appreciation Week  on May 11.

A program that launched in October 2021 has mostly reversed a major Maine hospital system’s shortage of emergency medical technicians after staffing dropped 30 percent during the COVID-19 pandemic.

LAGRANGE — After nearly 14 years on the job as SAD 41 superintendent, Michael Wright will be retiring at the end of the current academic year.

After three years Three Rivers Kiwanis Foundation of Milo/Brownville will finally hold its annual canoe race on Saturday, May 13, starting at the Sebec Village Reading Room and ending at Veterans Park in Milo.
