This year’s General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC)/Miosac Club high school art contest will be held in the lobby of Center Theatre, beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 25. Students from Foxcroft Academy, Greenville High School, the Penquis Valley School and Piscataquis Community High Schools have all been invited to participate again this year.

Showtimes for the production in high school cafeteria are at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 22 and Friday, March 23 and 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 24.

The Center Theatre, Slightly Off-Center Players, and members of the Barony of Endewearde are presenting a medieval dinner theater at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 31. The event will held at the Commons Event Center on the second floor of the newly renovated Central Hall

The Highlands Classical Chamber Ensemble will appear in concert at the following locations: 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 10 at The Inn at Dirigo Pines in Orono; 7 p.m. on Friday, March 16 at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church; and 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 18 at the Greenville Consolidated School (a reception will follow this program).

The Center Theatre is hosting three performances of one-act plays from area schools at 7 p.m. on Friday March 2 and at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 3.

Ben Zabin, one of America’s top teen magicians, is coming to Dover-Foxcroft for a one-night show at the Center Theatre at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 16.

The Center Theatre is accepting registrations for the February Vacation Drama Camp which is being held at the SeDoMoCha School. The camp runs from Feb. 19 through the 23rd, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a performance at the Center Theatre the evening of Feb. 23.

“Neither Wolf Nor Dog” will be at the Center Theatre on East Main Street in Dover-Foxcroft at 2 and 7 p.m. on Feb. 10 and Sunday, Feb. 11 and 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 12.

We’ve made it to February, the time when winter starts to wear on even the hardiest of Mainers. While this month is known for Valentine’s Day, the Thompson Free Library in Dover-Foxcroft is headed in different directions, focusing on amnesty, science and technology and, most importantly, the zen of Nerf.

The Center Theatre announced recently that registration is open for the 2018 drama camps. This year’s offerings include both a February and April vacation camp as well as the long-standing Summer Drama Camp.

The Center Theatre and the Slightly Off-Center Players will be producing a medieval dinner theatre called “The Ring of Lies” at the Commons Event Center at Central Hall on March 31.

The Center Theatre and the Slightly Off-Center Players are hosting a paint ‘n sip event at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13 at the Center Theatre. The latest in this series of fun events, attendees will work on a painting by Connie LaGross, titled “Colorful Sunrise.”

It may be hard to believe but Dexter Dover Area Towns in Transition (DDATT) was started a little more than eight years ago, a few local people concerned about climate change and how its effects might impact the area. The fledgling group began to occasionally screen films on various aspects of the subject at the town hall and then the Abbott Memorial Library in Dexter, which became popular enough to warrant a monthly public meeting, dubbed the First Friday Free Film and Discussion.

The audience at the opening night of the Center Theatre's production of “The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe” were treated to a magical journey to the land of Narnia that was perfectly suited for the holiday season.

The Harold J. Crosby Community Band of Dexter wants to wish the community a happy holiday season. To show the band’s appreciation for the support the town of Dexter and surrounding communities have given, the group will be performing a holiday concert, free to all, at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17 at the Dexter Town Hall.

Piscataquis Community Elementary School (PCES) students will be demonstrating their skills as classes, groups and individuals using their voices, instruments and movement on three separate nights during the holiday season.
