This fall, my son decided to participate in the speech and debate club at his school, his father beaming with pride. To help encourage him, I also volunteered as a judge.

The Piscataquis Community High School Drama Club won a second-place trophy at the Maine Drama Festival on March 10 in Skowhegan. The name of the club’s production was “TATTERED,” a student-written play on the effects of bullying cyberbullying and suicide with the message … words hurt.

By upcycling old clothing, curtains and yarn and reusing metal or wood to create new and beautiful products is the artist’s purpose.
