The Center Theatre is holding its Pumpkin Jam Fall Fundraiser at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20. The event will feature a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, as well as complimentary food and desserts. The entertainment for the night will be a battle of the bands between three local favorites, the Doughty Hill Band, the Josh Guthrie Trio and Happy Folk.

Timothy Branco, a regular customer of the A.E. Robinson Convenience Store in Dover-Foxcroft, won the $15,000 Pump Up the Fun with Irving Oil Second Chance drawing.

Over 60 participants of varying ages traveled more than a mile from the Kiwanis Park gazebo and back through downtown Dover-Foxcroft during the Partners for Peace’s Walk to End Domestic Abuse on Oct. 4 as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Funeral home records are one of the resources that many genealogists know exist, but few family hunters have used them. That may be because many don’t know how to locate funeral home records or feel they would have little to offer beyond what can be found in an obituary or on a cemetery tombstone. That’s not the case. Well-kept funeral home records can prove to be a goldmine for a genealogist with some details not found on a death certificate.

Twenty-four runners took part in the 16th annual Camden National Bank Moose on the Run 5K on the morning of Sunday, Oct. 8, starting and ending at C.A. Dean Memorial Hospital. Nearly $2,0000 in net proceeds from the race will support the Greenville Rec Program.

Fresh off the press, printed copies of Ken Hatchette’s new book “More Than a Train Yard and a Whistle Stop: The Canadian Pacific Railway in Brownville Junction 1886 to 1963” are now available for purchase. The author will be visiting the Parish House Museum at 72 Church Street Oct. 13-15 to meet those who have purchased or wish to buy the book.

On Sept. 29 Piscataquis Community High School’s Positive Action Team organized a school-wide yellow tulip garden planting. This garden is part of The Yellow Tulip Project – a movement started by Maine high school student Julia Hansen who lost two close friends to suicide her sophomore year.
