Dexter Regional High School recently held its annual Winter Carnival Week Feb. 12-16. The week concluded with a dance where the Winter Carnival court was crowned.

The Miss Maine Basketball semifinalist used the move to nail a game-tying 3-pointer from the left side with 24.1 seconds remaining in regulation and her free throw with 2:18 left in overtime broke a 30-30 tie, enabling the top-seeded Shires to survive a stiff test from the youthful Dexter Tigers 33-30 in their Class C North championship game Feb. 24 at the Cross Insurance Center.

Randy’s first Facebook about mental illness last year was autobiographical.

The 11th-seeded Calais High School girls basketball team entered the Feb. 23 Class C North semifinal against second seed Dexter averaging 64.8 points per game. Its season low was 48 in a loss to undefeated Houlton on Jan. 10. But Dexter turned in a smothering defensive performance, limiting the Blue Devils to a 19.4 percent shooting performance en route to a 36-15 victory at the Cross Insurance Center.

For what reason do we want to assemble a wall along the southern border of the United States? Loss of jobs? Currently, an average of 95 percent of Americans in the labor force are working. Illegal drugs? Trafficking? Violence?

If you can measure, cut a straight line with scissors and tie a simple knot you can become a ‘blanketeer’ and help support Project Linus.”
